Night Guards & Mouth Guards for Protection

Night guards and mouth guards can be worn for a variety of reason, but typically night guards are recommended for patients who have TMJ/TMD disorder or bruxism (teeth grinding), whereas a mouth guard is typically worn by athletes or physically active individuals while engaging in high-impact activities to protect their teeth. There are several different types of guards that can be purchased, but we strongly recommend having your guard custom-made at a professional clinic, as doing so will result in improved results and reduce your risk of developing issues that can occur from store bought guards.

At Dental Serenity™, we offer a comprehensive range of dental procedures, from common treatments like fillings or root canal therapy, cosmetic treatments like veneers or teeth whitening, restorative procedures like dental implants to replace a missing tooth or teeth, emergency care, and orthodontic needs like night guards and mouth guards. To ensure you are comfortable and have as enjoyable an experience as possible, we also offer sedation dentistry so you can remain calm and receive the care you need.

Do Night Guards/Mouth Guards Require Special Care?

To prolong the use of your night guard or mouth guard, it is important to follow proper maintenance. Avoid smoking or sugary foods and beverages while wearing your guard.  Before touching your guard, always wash your hands. When the guard is removed, rinse and brush the guard with a soft bristle toothbrush, then place the guard on a clean surface to dry for approximately 15-30 minutes. Once the guard is dry, place it in a storage container that is kept somewhere other than your bathroom or any other room where humidity can be high, as this can cause your guard to warp. Because your guard will need to be replaced at some point, it is also important to bring your guard with you to your regular dental examinations so we can evaluate the status of your guard and ensure that the fit is still correct.

What is the Cost of Night Guards/Mouth Guards?

The cost of a night guard or mouth guard will depend on a variety of factors, including what type of guard you use and whether you are covered by dental insurance. If you do have dental insurance, your final bill will be determined by your dental insurance coverage, co-pay requirements, and annual deductibles.

Our clinic is in network with most PPOs and accepts all insurance plans.
